Air Curtains/Air Doors – New item 114135 is established with classification based on length.
Magazines/Periodicals/Newspaper inserts/Supplements– Item 161685 will be cancelled and new Item 161700 is being created with classification based on density.
Blinds, Hunters – Item 15830 is being cancelled and referred to Item 15520, full scale density.
Chairs or Stools - folding – Item 80565 will be cancelled and referenced to Item 80580 which is the density based chair classification.
Blinds or Shutters, wooden, exterior – Item 37550 is being amended to reflect classification based on density.
Lockers, cold storage, steel – Item 111740 will be cancelled and referred to 80440
Pine/Fir Cones – Item 52640 is amended to reflect classification based on density.
Freeze Dried/Freeze Dehydrated Fruits, Meats, Vegetables, and Dairy Products – Item 76850 is amended to reflect classification based on density.
Night Lights – Item 109880 is being changed from a class 85 to class 125.
Trail Mix – Item 77190 is cancelled and will now reference to Item 74800, the density based snacks item.
Compounds, Antifreezing, Dextrin or British Gum, Blue, Flower or Garden seeds – Items 50070, 57200, 149590, 173270 are all updated to remove references to Item 60000
Household Goods – NMFC 100240 is adjusted to reflect cl 150 for boxed/crated household goods. It is still preferable for customers to use the HMS.
Air conditioners/Heat Pumps/Air Handlers/Refrigeration condensers – NMFC 114125 is changed to reflect classifications based on packaging and density. NMFC 114126 is cancelled. ***note, this item is set for arbitration. It may not go into effect on the above date.
Circuit boards – NMFC 61045 is changed to reflect classifications based on a standard 11 sub density scale. Previously this was a value based classification.
Mixers/Peelers/Food processors/blenders – classification is adjusted to reflect class 100 instead of class 85.
Cages/Kennels/Doghouses – NMFC 39520 is adjusted to reflect, density, length, and how it is mounted on the pallet/platform.
Air cleaners/Dehumidifiers - NMFC 114110 is adjusted to reflect density and packaging.
Shingles/Panels (wooden) – NMFCs 35070, 113280, 113300 are cancelled referencing to new item 170400 naming Shakes or Shingles, including Shake or Shingle Panels or Corners (wood). Class 70 will be applicable.
Hatches/Hatch covers – boat – NMFC 24850 is amended to reflect a density break at 12 pcf.
Kits (First Aid, Highway Emergency, Emergency Preparedness, Survival) – NMFCs 56780, 108075, 108130, and 108135 are cancelled and will reference new item 108107 which will be a 9 sub density scale.
Bacteria cultures – new item 72747 at class 85.
Showcases or display cases (steel or wood furniture) – NMFC 82580 is cancelled with reference to new NMFC 82630 based on a 5 pcf density break.
Radiator Cores – NMFC 164790 is cancelled and NMFC 128130 is adjusted to reflect radiator cores with classification based on density and packaging.
Obsolete provisions - NMFCs 29550 (Pyrographic boxes), 38260 (Coal chutes), 39020 (Wood grave vaults), 42437 (Chair/TV combo units), 57710 (angled computers), 60430 (Metal melting furnace parts), and 71540 (Deer Tongue) are all cancelled as being obsolete.
Coolers, Iceboxes, or Refrigerators– NMFC 53100 and 53120 are both cancelled and referred to NMFCs 53025 and 53180. 53025 will be a full scale density item and is designed for coolers/iceboxes/refrigerators without the mechanical cooling or freezing apparatus. NMFC 53180 will be a flat class 150 and will apply on Refrigerators or freezers shipped with the mechanical cooling or freezing apparatus.
Sofas/Couches/Chaise Lounges/Daybeds, etc – NMFC 80865 is adjusted to reflect a flat class of 250 for all items falling within this classification. All previous subs (backs detached/dual-purpose) are cancelled. 80870 is cancelled and referred to 80865.
Chairs/Stools – folding or revolving chairs or stool, chaise lounges, sofas, settees, gliders, NMFC 80770 with classification based on SU nested, SU not nested, and KD is cancelled and referred to 80580 (full scale density) or the new 80865 dependent on the actual item shipped.
Racks – pallet or warehouse, metal – NMFC 164340 is adjusted to reflect classifications based on greatest dimension and density.
Radioactive materials – NMFC 164900 created at class 250. Prohibited commodity so should not be picked up anyway.
Glass, flexible – NMFC 86710 is created for flexible glass, class 125.
Cuttings, Scions, or Seedlings // Florist or Nursery Stock – NMFC 71175 is cancelled and will now fall under NMFC 71200, Florist or Nursery Stock. 71200 is adjusted to reflect classifications based on packaging.
Sodium Hydrosulfate/Metal – NMFC 46370 and 136380 are cancelled and referred to 44515.
Ethylene Oxide – NMFC 85855 is cancelled and referred to 85900.
Ovens – baking, microwave, or convection – Items 26720, 26740, 26760, 26770, and 26780 are all cancelled and will be referred to new item 26710 which will be a density based item.
Mowers – Item 125830 will be cancelled and will become 125835 which will be based on density and packaging.
Ice Cream Makers – Items 121420, 121440, and 121500 will all be cancelled and referred to 121400 which will be a straight cl 77.5.
Bucks, Casings, Frames, door – items 35760, 35960, 36570, 37880, 37900, and 37910 are canceled and will be referred to 33780 which will be density and packaging based.
Channels, iron or steel – Item 104850 will be amended to reflect classifications based on length and density. Similar to what they did with pipe a couple of years ago.
Shovels, Sidewalk Cleaners (scrapers), Snow Pushers, or Spades or Scoops – Item 185945 will be cancelled and 185950 will be amended to reflect classes based on packaging and density. Note that this is in Tools grouping and “snow pushers” here should not be confused with snow plows that are mounted onto a tractor or vehicle.
Lifts, Ramps, or Runways, vehicle – 17760, 20210, and 20230 are all cancelled and referred to 111220 which will be classed based on length and density based.
Toilets, chemical, decomposing, earth or incinerating type – Items 48780, 48785, 48787, 48790, and 48795 are all cancelled and referred to 183450 which will be density based. Does not apply when combined with buildings or structures for enclosing them. Note that this is not for toilets you’d find in your standard bathroom, 158880 is still applicable for them.
Potatoes (Shoestring potatoes) – 74450 is changed to reflect that chips, crisps, or sticks is not applicable. Item 74800 (snack foods) is amended to reflect potato sticks. Full scale density applies.
Cutters or Grinders, stump - New item 119130 will reflect classification based on packaging and density.
Traps or Interceptors, grease, metal – 52550 and 52560 will be amended to remove any reference to grease traps. New item 52580 will be created for grease traps with final classification based on density.
Slings or Pallets, paper combined with whole or halved paper tubes – Item 41400 cancelled and new item 150310 will apply with classification based on density.
Traps – 66140 will be cancelled and referred to item 187120. 187120 will be amended to reflect 11 density subs instead of 9.
Obsolete provisions – drying rooms or cabinets (60030), electric frying pan bodies (61050), mustard cake (74160), clay gatherers (117590), quoins (162550), cards, cotton or wool (184100), and wooden potato mashers (199270) are all canceled as obsolete.
